KYC’s Pro­gram Train­ing Com­mit­tee Presents: Help­ing Providers Heal Generational/​Intergenerational Trau­ma and Build Fam­i­ly Connections

Men­tal Health Pro­fes­sion­als, join KYC’s Clin­i­cal Train­ing Com­mit­tee for a vir­tu­al train­ing event on heal­ing Generational/​Intergenerational Trau­ma and Build­ing Fam­i­ly Connections.

This train­ing will help men­tal health pro­fes­sion­als gain insight and knowl­edge about Latino/​e cul­ture and increase com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills to bet­ter serve these com­mu­ni­ties. Gain an under­stand­ing of inter/​intragroup dif­fer­ences, con­front myths and stereo­types, and gain clin­i­cal vocab­u­lary and skill sets in Span­ish. Top­ics will include work­ing with par­ents and chil­dren, heal­ing from gen­er­a­tional trau­ma, and inter­ven­tions and diag­noses for Span­ish-speak­ing clients.

About the Speaker

Jose­fi­na Sier­ra, MSWLCSW.

A men­tal health pro­fes­sion­al with over 30 years of expe­ri­ence. Jose­fi­na served as a provider in com­mu­ni­ty out­reach, and ther­a­pist to diverse pop­u­la­tion and men­tal health issues. Jose­fi­na has exten­sive expe­ri­ence in super­vi­sion, con­sul­tant, senior adjunct pro­fes­sor, and pre­sen­ter in a vari­ety of top­ics at the local, region­al, and nation­al lev­els in both Eng­lish and Span­ish. Jose­fi­na’s main pas­sion is to serve the Lati­no Com­mu­ni­ty and to pro­vide and aug­ment knowl­edge in cul­ture and to aug­ment the abil­i­ty to prop­er­ly com­mu­ni­cate in Span­ish to bet­ter serve the Lati­no Com­mu­ni­ty.
