Each holiday season, Kenneth Young Center organizes an Adopt a Family drive to provide our clients with the highest needs with extra support and holiday cheer. Through this program, generous community members provide gifts or basic needs items to the kids, adults, seniors, or family members of people who are engaged in our services, and are facing an especially difficult time or isolation during the holiday season. While the gifts themselves are much-needed and thoroughly appreciated, we hear from many of our clients that they’re most grateful to know that there are people in the community who truly care about them.
You Can Make a Difference
KYC welcomes community members, corporations, churches, and community groups to participate in this drive.
Become a Captain
Captains are the point people at each participating organization who volunteer to coordinate their group’s participation. Captains work with KYC staff to choose the kind of drive they will hold and recruit individuals from their group to participate. We ask that Captains deliver collected gifts or items to KYC by December 6, 2019 or work with KYC to schedule a pickup.
Choose Your Drive
There are two ways that your group can choose to participate. You can choose to purchase gifts for an individual client (each gift totals $25 to $50), or you may choose to organize a general gift or basic needs drive.
If you choose to adopt individuals, KYC will provide you with as many client wish list tags as you request.
- Make tags available to group members who would like to participate.
- Collect the gifts. Gifts are requested to be wrapped in gift bags.
If you choose to organize a general gift drive or basic needs item drive, please work with KYC staff directly to determine the kinds of items you plan to collect.
- Designate a collection spot for participants to drop off their gifts or items.
