To Support Someone in Mental Health Crisis

If you are interested in being a champion for mental health and suicide prevention, we provide two kinds of trainings: Mental Health First Aid and QPR training. Read about each below.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. Mental Health First Aid is a blended course including a 2‑hour self-paced online course, and a 5.5‑to 6.5‑hour, instructor-led training.

We offer Mental Health Frist Aid Training for adults, and Mental Health First Aid Training for those working with youth. Both trainings are offered in English and Spanish.

Individual or Group training is available.

QPR (Question. Persuade. Refer.) Training: Responding to Someone in Suicide Ideation

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer – the three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. This is a quick 60 – 90-minute training.
