Help a Local Family Take Their Next Hopeful Step
Spring is a season of renewal — a reminder that with the right support, hope can grow even in the most challenging moments. At Kenneth Young Center (KYC), we meet people every day who are facing overwhelming hardships and simply need someone to walk beside them.
People like Sam and his son.
Sam first came to KYC seeking therapy for his child, who was struggling with low self-esteem and behavioral challenges at school. During those visits, Sam bravely shared that he, too, was carrying emotional burdens and began receiving mental health support.
With guidance from a KYC Behavioral Support Specialist, Sam worked to strengthen his parenting skills so he could better support his son’s healing.
Then, Sam’s world shifted. He lost his job — and with it, his housing.
Unsure where to turn, Sam reached out to the KYC team that had already become a lifeline. His Specialist helped the family find temporary shelter and connected Sam to solutions for managing a serious medical condition so he could stay safe and healthy during an incredibly vulnerable time.
KYC’s community-based teams coordinated wraparound resources, ultimately helping Sam and his son access transitional housing and both social and mental health supports.
Today, Sam’s son continues to build confidence through therapy and recently took a major leap — trying out for the basketball team — and proudly earned a spot. Sam is also continuing his own mental health journey, knowing he has a trusted team behind him.
This is the impact of community. This is what your generosity makes possible.
And today, your gift can go even further.
Thanks to a generous friend of KYC, all spring appeal donations will be matched — dollar for dollar — up to $5,000. That means your contribution is essentially doubled, instantly increasing your impact!
Your support will help ensure that families like Sam’s have access to the caring support they need during their most difficult moments. Last year alone, 4,950 individuals received outpatient behavioral health care, and 94% came from low‑income or very low‑income households. Your support ensures that cost is not a barrier to care.
Every day, your kindness helps grow hope, resilience, and stability for our neighbors.
Will you make a spring gift, with twice the impact, to help another local family take their next hopeful step?
