Play Ther­a­py 101: Start­ing Points

This work­shop will pro­vide an under­stand­ing of the val­ue of play-based inter­ven­tions. Pre­sen­ter Lau­ra Teja­da will cov­er the fol­low­ing objectives:

  • Par­tic­i­pants will demon­strate a basic under­stand­ing of the val­ue of play-based inter­ven­tions in ther­a­py ses­sions with chil­dren and youth. 
  • Par­tic­i­pants will demon­strate a basic under­stand­ing of toy selec­tion for play-based interventions. 
  • Par­tic­i­pants will demon­strate basic com­pe­tence in core play ther­a­py skills of track­ing and reflec­tion of content. 
  • Par­tic­i­pants will state appro­pri­ate lim­its in role-played sce­nar­ios of com­mon lim­it-test­ing behav­iors in play ther­a­py sessions. 

3.5 CEU’s are avail­able for LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT, and CADC.

The cost for non-KYC staff to attend this train­ing is $30. KYC Staff can attend at no cost.
