For those who want to give back to their community... KYC collaborates with individual and group volunteers to provide direct service and support on many levels.
  • HOME Support Volunteers are matched with a fragile or isolated elderly client to help with visiting, shopping or respite from one to three hours a week.
  • Home-Delivered Meals Drivers deliver hot meals to senior clients once a week over the noon hour, ensuring good nutrition and social contact for frail persons home alone.
  • Senior Advocates outreach with information and help with benefits applications.
  • Case Aides help case managers in administrative tasks and client phone visits
  • Friendship Volunteers are matched with people challenged by the stigma of mental illness and visit weekly to share friendship, role modeling, and social outings.
  • Recreational Aides help a few hours each week to talk, interact, and play cards and games in the day program for clients with serious mental illness.
  • Resale Shop Volunteers work at Kenneth Young Center Resale Shop, 1150 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, to accept, sort, and mark donated items for resale.
  • Clerical Volunteers assist staff with a variety of tasks or special projects like bulk mailings.
  • Special Events Volunteers work on a committee to plan and execute fund-raising projects- KYC's Fashion Show Luncheon, Golf Outing, Walk and Dinner Dance.
  • Councils and Committees share expertise, link to the community and give feedback.
  • Board members define KYC's social mission and direct the strategic plan.
