1) Prevention Specialist
Positive Youth Development Program
Scope: Coordinates and presents evidence-based alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention programs to community schools, coalitions, organizations, social service agencies, faith-based organizations, etc.
Program Responsibilities:
• Focus on alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention.
• Plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based prevention programs.
• Provide direction and prevention consultation to local substance abuse prevention coalitions.
• Work collaboratively with schools, local law-enforcement, faith-based organizations, social service agencies, and community members.
• Coordinate and implement local needs assessments.
• Research and develop prevention materials.
• Provide consultation related to best practices in ATOD prevention to schools and or community organizations.
• Plan, create, facilitate and evaluate ongoing group activities with program participants.
• Participate in the preparation of Annual Work Plan, Semi-Annual Report, BSAP reports and other documents required by DHS.
• Attend agency required and state-mandated training and workshops.
Core Competencies:

Education and Experience:
• Bachelors Degree in social services, education, or related field required.

*Part- time, Non-Exempt position, 25-28 hours a week.
2) Post Crisis Specialist
Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS)
Child & Adolescent Services
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive mental health assessments to community based clients residing in the SASS service area who have received crisis screenings by SASS workers. These assessments will occur at the hospital, in the home, or when appropriate, in the office.
2. Collaborate with SASS clients and their families to create treatment plans reflecting client’s preference for care and demonstrating medical necessity.
3. Provide stabilization and support services to SASS clients and their parents during their 90 day eligibility period. This may include but are not limited to the following:
• Assist clients and their families in preparing for discharge and creating plans to make the transition out of inpatient settings successful.
• Assist the client in reentry to school vial consultation with parents and school staff, and, when necessary, scheduling school reentry meetings.
• Connect the family with services and resources to ensure successful transition from inpatient placement to home and to reduce the likelihood of future crises.
• Providing support and coaching to clients while they engage in skill building in areas they are deficient in based on their mental health assessments.
• Provide assistance to the client in developing a crisis management and symptom management plans.
• Provide support and coaching to the parents of clients to assist them in managing their child’s crises and problematic behavior adapt their parenting styles to best manage crises and other symptoms.
• Education about and assistance accessing natural and community supports.
4. Serve as the contact for the C&A Community Services Coordinator/ICG coordinator and C&A Outpatient Coordinator for appropriate referrals.
5. Facilitate linkage to other services provided at KYC based on assessed need.
6. Participate in consultation, as needed, with other agency professionals or with paid agency consultants.
7. Provide on-call crisis assessment services and clinical back-up (1-2 days per month).
Administrative Responsibilities:
• As required by Rule 132, meet face to face with clients to complete and authorize mental health assessments.
• Participate in or, when directed by the SASS Coordinator, preside over peer utilization review.
• In the absence of the SASS Coordinator, coordinate the day to day activities of the SASS staff.
• Assume responsibility for administrative duties as assigned, such as: case assignment, case review for closing, and intern supervision.
Competencies:
• Provide Intake, Screening and/or Crisis Assessment and Intervention Services.
• Complete Comprehensive Behavioral Health Evaluations and Assessments.
• Provide Treatment/Care Planning and Services.
• Provide Transition (linkage, discharge planning) Services.
• Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development and treatment theory, emotional disorders, and community based systems.
• Familiarization with statutes and codes pertaining to minors.
• Familiarization with and utilization of outside resources as needed to provide comprehensive services to clients.
• Provide Child and Adolescent treatment services within a Wraparound context involving multiple system planning and coordination, intensive family based services, and differential treatment approaches and interventions.
Education and Requirements:
• Masters Degree from an accredited College or University in Social Work, Psychology, or closely related discipline meeting the requirements for QMHP under Medicaid Rule 132.
• Lower level licensure preferred.
• One to three years experience working with children and adolescents.
• Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation required.
• Excellent driving record.
• Computer skills required.
• Must work a flexible schedule in response to the needs of the target population served, including rotating direct on-call responsibilities, which includes evening and weekend hours

3) Senior Behavioral Support Specialist
Child & Adolescent Services
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Provide in-home and community-based support to severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents consistent with the individual service plan. These services may be on a planned, regular basis or on an as needed basis. These services include but are not limited to:
• Engage client in skill building activities.
• Gathering information from parent(s) and team members and reporting back to same.
• Setting limits and providing structure for the youth.
• Providing support, coaching and assistance in accessing resources to the parent(s).
• Provide encouragement, coaching and support as client learns to use newly developed skills in a natural setting.
• Working in conjunction with other clinical staff to address meeting service needs of client.
2. Participate in supervision as directed with the Coordinator or designee.
3. Provide coaching and education to other community support specialists in a group format.
4. Participate with the Coordinator or designee in regular performance evaluations.
5. Work cooperatively with other Center units/staff to maintain smooth continuity of care when cases are shared.
Administrative Duties:
• Provide assistance to the Coordinator with administrative duties such as data entry, phone calls and client matching.
• Provide continuous quality assurance by reviewing community support specialists’ notes and community support treatment plans for Medicaid compliance and clinical quality.
• Submit, in a timely and accurate fashion, reports and data as required by the Centers’ policies and procedures.
• Receive input from the Coordinator and/or designee and provide feedback regarding administrative issues.
• Participate in orientations and training programs of the Center as directed.
• Represent the C&A Community Services Manager in their absence.
Competencies:
• Provide Care Planning Coordination
• Provide Treatment/Care Services
• Aware of issues affecting children and adolescents with SED
• Able to establish therapeutic relationship with child
• Able to locate and engage in activities which are related to the service plan
Education and Requirements:
• Masters degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology or a related discipline or the equivalent education and experience to be classified as a QMHP under Rule 132 OR an Bachelors degree and significant clinical experience (5 years+) to meet the job description and MHP status under Medicaid Rule 132
• Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents
• Minimum age 21
• Ability to work evenings and Saturdays
• Willingness to drive to clients’ homes and provide services in the community
• Excellent driving record

4) Behavioral Support Specialist
Child & Adolescent Services
Clinical Responsibilities:
Provide in-home and community-based respite to severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents consistent with the individual service plan. These services may be on a planned, regular basis or on an emergent, as needed basis. These services will include but are not limited to:
• Supervision of and engaging in recreational activities with the youth
• Gathering information from parent(s) and team members and reporting back to same
• Documenting service provision for the chart
• Setting limits and providing structure for the youth
• Providing relief to parent(s)
• Working in conjunction with other clinical staff to address meeting service needs of client
Administrative Duties:
• Receive input from the Coordinator and/or designee and provide feedback regarding administrative issues
• Submit, in a timely and accurate fashion, reports and data as required by the Centers’ policies and procedures
• Participate in orientations and training programs of the Center as directed
Education and Experience:
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology or a related discipline or the equivalent education and experience to be classified as a RSA or MHP under Rule 132
• Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents
• Minimum age 21 years
• Ability to work evenings and Saturdays
• Willingness to drive to clients’ homes and provide services in the community
• Excellent driving record

Kenneth Young Center offers a structured internship program for Masters level students in a psychology program from September to May on an annual basis.
